Make Your Own Baby Food

I’ve made little man’s baby food since he started eating solids. He currently eats a variety of fruits and vegetables. We’ll slowly add in more things as he gets older, but this is what he eats so far (I’m sure I’m missing a few off the list):

  • Banana
  • Apple (homemade applesauce)
  • Pear
  • Sweet Potato
  • Red Potato
  • Peach
  • Carrot
  • Eggs (a new one today)
  • Black Beans (rarely)
  • Green Beans
  • Split Peas
  • Avocado

The fruits get pureed with the immersion blender or chopped into little bits depending on how soft the fruit is. The vegetables get cooked and then blended. For his eggs, this morning I made scrambled eggs and cut up some into tiny pieces for him. He really liked this new taste. When I make him split peas, I use my crock pot. I dump in the peas, add water, and cook on low all day. They mush really well after this. With any of the fruits or vegetables we add water if it needs to be thinned out. I’ve also mixed them up to create blended flavors. Who knew that pears mixed with carrot would be so tasty?
