Lots of recipes call for bread crumbs but we don’t always have them on hand. What I’ve done is to make up a batch of bread crumbs in the food processor, then put them in a container and store them in the freezer. Now I’ve got bread crumbs ready when I need them. This saves lots of time when I come across a recipe that calls for bread crumbs.
Are you able to pull them straight out from the freezer and use them in a recipe or do have to somehow defrost them first? This sounds like a great tip!
I use them straight from the freezer!
Nice!
Great idea! You can make home-made croutons and freeze them as well.Just cut up the bread into squares, place on a baking tray, drizzle olive oil on top and a sprinkle a pinch of salt over the bread and place in a low oven until brown. These our a favorite in our home and great for putting on salads and in soups!
